Of course, overeating can also make you feel a lot bloated and it takes no genius to figure it out.
Cruciferous vegetables
These vegetables contain a sugar substance called raffinose that produces gas when it gets in contact with gut bacteria when digested and ferments in the gastrointestinal tract. Of course, you don’t have to shun these nutritional goodies away, just make sure you cut down on the amount that you eat to reduce the gas produced.
You may want to also consider cooking these vegetables to help break down the dietary fibers and require less energy from your body to digest it.
Beer and soda or carbonated drinks
The froth that you see in beer represents air bubbles and imagine those bubble getting into your stomach. Same goes with sodas and carbonated drinks that produce gas bubbles and agitate gut bacteria, making you feel more inflated.
Legumes
Since legumes are packed with protein, it takes the stomach a bit of time to digest it and once it stays undigested, it produces more gas in the gastrointestinal tract. But that does not mean you have to let go of beans legumes as these are superfoods that have a very good nutritional value. Just cut down on the amount that you eat.
After all, the health benefits far outweigh the temporary discomfort.
Processed food and frozen dinners
The culprit behind these foods is the sodium content. They are often packed with salt as a preservative and flavor enhancer, but salt is responsible for making you retain more water in the body.
Dairy products
There are many people who are lactose intolerant or are sensitive to dairy products like milk and cheese. This condition is a result of their body’s inability to produce the much-needed enzymes that break down lactose, which is a sugar form that is commonly found in dairy products.
It stays in the body undigested and produces gas that triggers bloating.
Know which foods to avoid and what to take in moderation to make you feel less-bloated and even help you prevent the discomfort of getting bloated after a meal.
