Running is a great and effective way to shed a few pounds. In addition to that, it helps boost heart health, regulate blood pressure, and improve your speed and coordination, among other important assets. It also improves teamwork (for teamsport), even some life lessons such as commitment, discipline and dedication.
And well, even though not all athletes are fans, it’s a fun way to work your muscles out!
So to start, here are five effective routines to improve your track workout for speed, power and endurance, as compiled by Brittany Smith on Men’s Fitness:

If you want to stay on track to tackle a big goal, like a half marathon or marathon, you gotta, well, hit the track. That brick-red, oval-shaped, closed-circuit course isn’t just reserved for pimple-faced high schoolers and record-breaking Olympians. It’s the perfect setting for speed-work and other drills to prepare you to PR any race. Read more…
And lastly, certified personal trainer Michelle Homan shares a few more tips on Fruition Fitness:

One tip that was not mentioned in the three articles is that you can listen to music while you’re running. The beat will set the mood and boost your confidence levels, therefore you’ll be able to run more. Having a buddy will also help because then you’ll always want to continue to push hard. Don’t forget to warm up and stretch before you start!
Aside from the health benefits, running track is also a fun and challenging way to work your body, so you don’t have to spend the rest of your life in the gym! It’s for everyone to try, except maybe for those with breathing problems or heart diseases.
If you really hate running, you can just try for a week or two, and see how it goes. You don’t necessarily have to run every day. Remember that your safety is still what matters most!
