Sleep is for the weak or sleeping for a week?

Well, who doesn’t want the latter, right? Kids, maybe, because they always choose play time over nap time (which they will surely regret later in life. Hah). But the point is, the majority of people – younger or older adults – do not get enough rest. Life just happens, and bam, you can’t even shut your eye straight for a minimum of seven hours every day.

But what happens when you are sleep deprived? Learn in this article written by Tom Hale on IFL Science:

Here’s What Happens To Your Brain And Body If You Don’t Sleep

You’ll be pleased to hear that science has got your back if you want an excuse to get more sleep. There are many health effects linked to a lack of sleep, both physical and psychological. Read more…

In a nutshell, a weaker immune system is what happens when you are sleep deprived. You’re more prone to colds, stomach problems, poor vision, headaches, and migraines. It will also mess with your brain health by affecting your learning ability, and increasing mood swings. Plus, it’ll affect your sex drive big time.

Another horrible effect is the unwanted weight gain. So instead of pulling an all-nighter watching TV or going online, go to bed.

Naps are good, too, but make sure they’re only about 20 to 30 minutes. Napping beyond that will leave you feeling groggy and completely blank, not knowing which era you’re in. Also, I know it’s hard to fight a food coma, but don’t take a nap right after you overindulged.
