Episode 18: Wonton Fever!
Aiya! Did you miss our mellifluous voices? By popular demand, our whole family is back behind the microphones (set up around our dining room table) for the start of Season 2 of our podcast!
It’s been over a year(!) since we last released an episode of our podcast—and one of our voices is now unrecognizable. (No, it’s not mine. My voice is as squeaky and vocal-fry-free as ever.) But we’ll try to make it up to you by cramming this catch-up episode with all our totally convincing, non-feeble excuses for being radio silent.
What We Ate
Have you made made my Wonton Meatballs yet? It took me many, many batches to figure out how to get them juuuust right, and it turned out that the persistent problem with my early batches was due to a surprising culprit. Also, you’ll hear the whole family chime in about the pros and cons of being the official taste testers at Nom Nom Paleo World Headquarters.
The Main Course
In this episode, we also share what we’ve been up to:
- First and foremost, we were working on our long-awaited follow-up cookbook, Ready or Not! (Learn more and pre-order here!)
- We created a companion 2018 wall calendar for Ready or Not!, complete with super cute stickers! (Catch a sneak peek and pre-order here!)
- We finally moved our website—and its 1,700+ blog posts—from Tumblr to WordPress, and redesigned it to be more user-friendly, searchable, and Pinnable than ever. We even have a new Recipe Index!
- We moved (part-time) to Portland! Check out #NomNomEatsPDX on Instagram for our favorite eats in Rip City. (We’ll devote a future episode to Portland very soon.)
See? We weren’t just neglecting the podcast for no reason!
Crush of the Week
If you’ve been following me on Instagram lately (and if you haven’t, DO IT ALREADY!), you know that I’ve been devouring Robb Wolf’s latest book, Wired to Eat. I’m not diabetic, but after finishing the book (burp!), I bought a blood glucose kit, and I’ve been pricking my finger after my meals. By checking my blood sugar levels, I can see how my body reacts to different types of carbohydrates. I’m no expert on blood glucose monitors, but this is the highly-rated, bestselling kit I bought on Amazon to collect my data.
Question of the Week
Whoops—we forgot that selecting a reader’s question to answer is supposed to be a regular part of our podcast episodes. Oh, well—we’ll get back into the swing of things again soon. Got a head-scratcher or two for us to ponder for a future episode? Leave ’em in the comments below, or shoot them to me via email. If we answer your question on the air, you’ll win some Nom Nom Paleo swag!
That said, our podcasts aren’t the only way to hear me answer your queries. I’ve been on a tear with my weekly live and interactive cooking demonstrations on my Facebook page, where I answer viewer’s questions, too. So tune in every Wednesday night at 5 pm Pacific / 8 pm Eastern and ask your questions while I cook!
