Just imagine if there was no treatment for parasitic diseases such as malaria, river blindness and lymphatic filariasis. Especially malaria, which caused about 584,000 deaths out of the 198 million cases worldwide in 2013 alone, according to the World Health Organization. African children were the most affected group.

What’s the world without people like William C Campbell, Satoshi Ōmura and Youyou Tu who are patient and determined enough to look for the cure for a variety of diseases? It’s totally not easy to spend all your years studying for the world. So this nobel prize for anti-parasite drug is just a way to let them know that they are appreciated.
Science is always going to be complicated, and we will always need scientists and health experts. Funny, isn’t it? Science may be objective, but it still remains a mystery, anyway.
